Story Development Workshop
Saturday, December 10, 2016
The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program (DFP), in collaboration with the Miami Filmmakers Collective, is offering intensive story development sessions to a group of select nonfiction filmmakers from the Miami, Florida, area with projects in the development phase. The program allows participants to receive constructive feedback on creative topics and strategic guidance from national and local experts, which will help them optimize their vision for their films and build relationships with a creative community that supports high-quality nonfiction storytelling.
Each of the 10 selected filmmakers will present up to five minutes of video material to the group of fellow participants, after which a Sundance Institute DFP-supported artists-advisor and DFP staff will lead a discussion to help the artist refine the project through expert and peer feedback.
Filmmakers selected to participate in the Story Development Workshop will be invited to attend, as observers, a special event the following day—the Rough Cut & Scene Selects Feedback Session, followed by a panel and networking reception.

Rough Cut & Screen Selects Feedback Session
Sunday, December 11, 2016
The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program (DFP), in collaboration with the Miami Filmmakers Collective, is hosting a special Rough Cut & Scene Selects Feedback Session, which gives filmmakers from the Miami, Florida, area the opportunity to present projects at the rough cut stage or selections of edited scenes for feedback from DFP staff, creative advisors, and other experienced filmmakers.
Projects will be selected by DFP staff and members of the Miami Filmmakers Collective, with selection based on originality and narrative and creative potential. Priority will be given to projects at the rough cut stage. Selected filmmakers can screen up to 40 minutes of material, after which we will lead a discussion to help artists refine their projects through expert and peer feedback.
